CIPS
The Confédération Internationale de la Pêche Sportive (CIPS) is the international federation that supervises competitive fishing sports and organizes international competitions. Established in 1952, CIPS is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and is one of the oldest and most prestigious fishing organizations in the world.
CIPS is headquartered in Rome, Italy, where its governing body is composed of 40 national federations of sport fishing, representing each continent. The organization’s mission is to promote, develop and organize fishing sport globally, as a means to promote cultural exchanges and international peace.
CIPS has established itself as the leading international authority on competitive fishing, and it governs 5 different disciplines. These include:
- Freshwater angling
- Saltwater angling
- Fly fishing
- Spinning & Casting
- Match fishing
The organization has developed a set of standardized rules and regulations for all of its fishing competitions, including equipment, techniques, and scoring. These standards ensure that all competitors are competing on a level playing field, regardless of their country or region of origin.
CIPS also organizes annual World Championships in each of these disciplines, where national teams compete against each other for the prestigious title of World Champions. These world championships are held in a different country each year, and teams from all continents come to compete.

CIPS is also affiliated with many other international organizations, including the International Sport Fishing Confederation (CIPS) and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), which is also focused on preserving the environment and natural resources.
